Constitution of Riada Soccer School of Excellence


This constitution was adopted by the members of the Soccer School in April 1999.[and this version of the constitution was adopted (as amended) by the members at the Annual General Meeting on the 26th June 2004.]

1. NAME

The name of the Soccer School shall be Riada Soccer School of Excellence (hereinafter called “Soccer School”).


2. CLUB COLOURS

Club colours shall be agreed between the team managers and the committee.

(Subject to Sponsors requirements)


3. OBJECTS

The Soccer School was established:

3.1 To create opportunities for young persons of the age 6 to 17 to progress to the highest level of their ability in the game of soccer. To provide leadership within the Soccer School in a positive drive to eliminate all aspects of sectarianism and racism. No one will be denied membership based on his or her religion, class or creed.


4. AFFILIATION

The Soccer School teams shall be affiliated to the appropriate League or Cup as decided by the individual management teams and agreed by the committee. The League or Cup shall be officially recognised by the Irish Football Association (I.F.A.).


5. MEMBERSHIP

Membership of the Soccer School shall comprise:

(a) Playing members.

(b) Full members.

Playing members shall be members.

Full members are non-playing members interested in the promotion of Association Football within the Soccer School.



Rights of Members

Playing members: shall not have any voice or vote in the management of the Soccer School, nor shall they be entitled to attend any meeting of the Soccer School nor to participate in the election of team captains.

Full members: shall have the right to vote at the A.G.M. There shall be no proxy voting at any meeting of the Soccer School or of its committees.

Annual Subscriptions:

The committee shall fix the rate of annual membership.

Full members shall be determined at the A.G.M. of each year.

Any member, whose annual membership not paid by the 31st August of the year due, shall be held in arrears. No member who is in arrears may take part in any of the League or Cup games once the season has started.

Removal of members:

In the event of any member, wilfully acting contrary to the constitution of the Soccer School or the rules of the I.F.A., or in the event of any member conducting himself/herself either inside or outside the Soccer School, being brought into disrepute, shall be expelled.


6 ORGANISATION & MANAGEMENT

The Soccer School shall consist of:

- a committee, of President, Chairperson, Vice-Chairperson, Treasurer, Secretary who shall serve for a term of two years.

- full members as elected at the A.G.M. shall serve for a term of one year.

The committee shall have unlimited authority on every aspect of the Soccer School. A Quorum shall consist of at least 1/3 of the committee members. In the event of any committee member resigning, the committee shall have the power to co-opt a replacement to serve until the next A.G.M.

Individual management teams will have the responsibility of managing and organising their team affairs i.e.

(a) Conduct their own business.

(b) Co-opt additional members in an advisory capacity and appoint assistants as deemed necessary.

(c) Accept liability or reject applications for membership.

(d) Levy any extra charges or fees as may from time to time become necessary.

(e) Deal with or suspend any player who is indebted to the Soccer School or whose conduct is likely to bring the Soccer School into disrepute.

7. FINANCE

(1) The committee shall determine weekly subscriptions.

(2) The committee treasurer shall lodge all monies in a bank account in the name of the Soccer School.

(3) The committee shall have sole power to authorise expenditure on behalf of the Soccer School.

(4) The executive treasurer and one other of two specified persons shall sign cheques.

(5) All monies raised by or on behalf of the Soccer School shall be applied to further the aims and objectives of the Soccer School.


8. MEETINGS

Meetings shall be held as appropriate, with an Annual General Meeting to be held no later than June of each year.


9. DISSOLOUTION

In the event of the dissolution of the Soccer School, any assets remaining after settlement of outstanding debts and liabilities shall not be distributed amongst the members but given to some other body or club having similar objectives to those of the Soccer School.


10. AMENDMENTS

Amendments to the constitution shall only be made by a vote of 75% or more of those full members attending an AGM agreeing with the motion. At least 14 days written notice shall be given to inform the other members of a proposed amendment to the constitution.
